Updates 29th May 2015

Hi Parents,

Its the last day of Semester 1 and its been a great journey so far. Have an exciting holiday with your sons! Some updates on class matters.

1) Kindly log into MCOnline and do a travel declaration. It is compulsory for all P1 parents, whether you are travelling or not.

2) I have given them the spelling list for Term 3. We will be having spelling on Monday when they return to school, so kindly prepare them. There will only be 5 spelling days.

3) I had given them the consent form for the Learning journey to the Science Centre. Kindly note that we will be going to the science centre on 1st July. Boys will have to be dressed in PE attire and bring along some items. I will remind them about it once school reopens.

4) I have also collected the report books and heath booklets from your son. If you have not submitted yet, please drop by school and pass it to the office. They will let me know. There will be an immunisation exercise in July/August period and a general health check for the boys.

5) I have passed your son the finalised CCA letter, which has details of his allocated CCA and the timings that he has to attend the sessions. Kindly take note of the details.

6) There is a NLB brochure with suggested reads for Primary 1. Please help your son pick up the habit of reading and reading widely over the holidays. It will help him a lot with comprehension for his English Mini-Test and also involves vocabulary building for him.

7) St Michael soccer academy letter has been also passed to him. It has details of a camp during the holidays. Kindly refer to it if you want to register for the camp.

8) Next term is going to be a short and fast term, with many holidays interrupting lessons. I wish to request your understanding in preparing him for a fast paced term. We will be having a Poetry recitation competition. The chose poem is 'Animal Homes'. If you have time with your son, please expose him to this poem. I will be going through the poem during Poetry sessions in class too. I would need some help with the props for this poetry recitation competition. If you are willing to share ideas and volunteer to make some of these props, it will be great. Please do email me if you are willing.

9) Thanks to all parents for attending the PTM sessions. Thanks for being understanding when there was an overrun. I have taken note of all your feedback and will be working on them. I have also spoken to the boys over some critical concerns that you have voiced out to me. Please do email me if you have any other concerns.

10) Project Buddy Clean was successful today. We managed to clean up the classroom and the boys did a good job. I have kept all the pails, rags and detergent in the class. I will wash all the cloth, dry them and keep them in class. I will return all the pails and unused detergent back once they are back from the holidays.

Thanks and have a great holiday!!!!

Mrs Priya Chopra

Updates 6th May 2015

Dear Parents,

1) I have given back the Maths files (Worksheet file, Test file). Please help to arrange their files in order. I have given them dividers to put in their worksheet file so that they can mange their worksheets better. The test is going to be on 14th May so it will be good if you can revise with your child. I will be giving them a contents page for the two files. I can't print it out now because the printing room is used solely for the printing of exam papers. I will update the blog with the items. Please check that your son has all the papers. There will be a file check soon, after their test is over.

2) I have also returned the Ordinal Numbers Test paper and Combined Test 2. Please sign these papers and file into the Tests file.

3) There is no spelling next week.

4)  I have not been able to complete the Show and Tell due to time constraints in the suspended timetable. I will continue testing them tomorrow.

5) Timetable is suspended for the exam period so PE, Music, PAL lessons will not be carried out during this time. Kindly seek your understanding in advising your son to remain quiet during the exam period as it will help the older boys have a conducive environment during their exam days.

Hope you are having a great week!

Regards,
Priya Chopra
