2) Assiss Hospice Letter has been given out to the boys. Please take a look at it.

3) Show and Tell will continue tomorrow. I had limited time to do the Show and Tell today. Those who have not done it, will get their chance tomorrow.

Updates 27th April 2015

Hi Parents,

1) Kindly get your son ready for Show and Tell. There were a few who did their Show and Tell today. Some common feedback: They have to increase their volume while presenting in front of the class. This would be the only time I allow the presenter to 'shout' in class so that they can be heard by everyone. The content should also be sufficient for the audience to be engaged for about 2 minutes, at least. Please get the boys ready. We will have another round of show and tell tomorrow. I will pass the feedback once all are done with the show and tell.

2) Please sign the spelling booklet. I have also explained the meaning of the words for next week's spelling. We have also gone through the word royal (spelling) in more detail. I showed the boys who the royal family of England comprises of (Prince William, Kate Middleton, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Prince Harry). The words related to Royal should also be familiar to them. This can tie in nicely with April 29th being the anniversary of the youngest Royal couple (William and Kate) and also hopefully it will help them understand when the second baby of the couple arrive soon.

3) We have completed the topic of Shapes and Patterns. I have returned both the unit booklet and the test paper as well. I have gone through the worksheets in detail. Please sign and return to me tomorrow.

4) We read a new book 'The Hungry Giant's Shoes' today. We had an interesting time comparing the similarities and differences between 'The Hungry Giant' and 'The Hungry Giant's Shoes'

Thanks and have a great week ahead!

Updates on 24th April 2015

Hi Parents,

1) I have completed two Readers' Theatre scripts with the boys (The Hungry Giant, Crocodile Tea). It is fun to read along with the boys. You may want to read it with him in your spare time. It helps with weak readers as well. Hope you have fun! Please do keep the paper safe as it needs to be filed in their English File.

2) The Show and Tell will start on Monday. Kindly ensure they are ready with their items and have practised enough at home in front of a few people. Hopefully, they will be confident to speak in front of the class. I hope the Chinese Show and Tell session was a good learning experience for them and will contribute to help them in this assessment.

3) There will be a Sound Discrimination test on Wednesday next week. We had practised once before in Term 1. Please do look at the Oral Booster book as well as there have been Listening Comprehension tests done in it before. There is a section on sound discrimination in it too.

4) Spelling test will be on Monday. We have already discussed the words with the boys. Please do test him on the meaning as well when they are learning to spell.

5) Mathemaniac Card is given out to the boys. Kindly prepare the items and pass it to me after the June Holidays. The card is quite interesting as it incorporates all the topics that the boys have learnt for Maths thus far. Appreciate if you can pass all the items in a file so that it is easier to keep track and display in class later on. I will remind you on a later date about the submission.

6) Mr Philip has requested that all parents should be encouraged to sign up for Dare to Play 2 event. Please go to the school website to look at the instructions for signing up.

7) We started with our Outdoor Education lessons for PAL today. Pupils have been briefed on what the lessons are going to cover. We learnt about the things required for an outdoor hiking trip, what to look out for during the trip, animals that they might encounter during the hike. I'm sure you can have a conversation about this lesson with them. They were really excited during the PAL session.

8) We are done with the Reading Test and most of them did very well for it. I will return the Assessment papers once all the English assessments are over.

Thanks and have a blessed weekend!

Updates and important information about Assessments

Hi Parents,

Please bear with me as this is going to be a long update.

1) Firstly, some updates about the progress of Maths lessons in class. We have completed Addition and Subtraction within 20, and moved on to Shapes and Patterns. I have given them the worksheet on shapes and patterns for them to complete at home as it involves some cutting and pasting. Kindly revise with him the main concepts as they are completing the worksheet. I will collect the worksheet tomorrow. I have also gone through the previous test paper (Test 8) with them. Please sign and go through this topic with them. There will be a test on 14 May 2015, which will test on the topics learnt in Term 1 and 2.

2) Secondly, some updates on English. We have completed the unit of 'The Hungry Giant'. I have sent the unit worksheet back for signature. Please look through it and sign. We have started on the next book 'Crocodile Tea'.

3) There will be a Reading Assessment on Friday this week. Please use 'The Hungry Giant' worksheet, Oral Booster, and the Readers' Theatre scripts that they bring back to practise, if you feel necessary. We have done a lot of reading and practise in class for this test. It will be similar to the previous reading test that I had conducted last term.

4) Show and Tell Practise session will start next Monday to Wednesday. I have gone through the requirements of Show and Tell with the pupils earlier today. They should be showing you the worksheet. Boys will practise their script in front of their classmates and I will provide written feedback, along with the rubrics for you to take a look. Please ensure they are ready and bring their items with them next week. The actual Show and Tell Assessment is the following week, so please use the feedback and help your son with the actual assessment.

5) Kindly be informed that Mrs Denise Wang will be taking charge of the lessons when I am not in school (On course, other duties). She is a roving teacher to support the P1 teachers who are not around since they are in the formative years. She works close with the teachers to support the teaching and learning in class. I have parents, misrepresenting that I am on medical leave when I was away on course, which I had informed the boys before I went. Please do not worry as their learning in class is not jeopardized. If you have clarifications, please send me an email. Kindly do not speculate and pass the wrong information around. Appreciate your understanding on this matter.

Thanks and regards,
Mrs Priya Chopra

We will not be carrying the bags or water bottles to the location. Attire for the day should be PE attire.

Please give them enough food/money to have an early recess and a short snack time (11.30am to 12.00 noon)

Thanks and regards,

Updates 6th April 2015 to 9th April 2015

Dear Parents,

1) We have done a SBA writing on Monday. We wrote a story about a giant. Please help to cut and paste the pictures into the SBA book (most of them have completed). Thanks for that.

2) Sign spelling booklet and submit to me with corrections completed.

3) Parents' workshop letter has been given to the pupils. Please register if you wish to attend it.

4) Founder's Day newsletter has also been given to them to inform of Friday's activities.

5) I have passed them the music enrichment certificates that they participated in last term.

6) Please wear School uniform and tie for this Friday's school activities. School ends at 10am. Please bring along a small bag, colour pencils, water bottle and pencil case. There will be no recess this Friday so please have a heavy breakfast.

Updates 2nd April 2015

Dear Parents,

1) There is no school tomorrow, Friday.

2) There will be a half day next Friday, 10th April. We will be celebrating Founder's Day so school will end at 10am. Kindly make arrangements for your child after school.

3) We have completed the topic of subtraction within 20 and the entire chapter 8. I have returned the Chapter 8 worksheet for you to revise with your son. Kindly use it to study for the class test next week.

4) Student Pass (EZLink card) has been passed to your son. I have encouraged them to keep the EZLink card at home as they still have the tendency to lose their wallets easily. Since the student pass is required for borrowing of books in the school library, I would highly recommend you to make a photocopy of the Student pass and put it in their wallet instead. The barcode on the front can be used to complete the borrowing process in the school library. If he happens to lose the card, you will need to go to the nearest Transitlink office to make a new one, at an additional cost. So please try to encourage him to keep the cards safely.

5) Please study for Spelling next Monday.

6) Sign Maths (Addition and Subtraction within 20) non-routine questions.

Please return all books and papers for me to file for them.

Thanks and have a good weekend.

Regards,
Mrs Priya Chopra
