Updates 27th January 2015

Hi Parents,

We have started on Number Bonds today. It is relatively a short topic so we will be covering it within a week. Please be reminded that the Maths Pupils' Book should be with them at all times. Some of the boys did not have the books with them so it was little difficult to conduct the lesson. Kindly help me to check he has the book with him.

Please also allow them to bring the mini-whiteboard to school. He should have a small duster and 2 working whiteboard markers with him. He can leave it under the desk in school.

I have returned the spelling booklet to him today. I have attached fasteners to the spelling booklet to keep it intact. Kindly sign on the latest spelling test and guide him to finish his corrections.

Lastly, please update me on any medical conditions that your son might have. This includes food allergies as we will be having some activities in class that involves food. Please drop me an email regarding this. I will acknowledge it once I receive.

Thanks a lot and have a good day!

Regards,
Mrs Priya Chopra

Updates 26th January 2015

Hi Parents,

We went through the Maths test paper today. Please help to sign the test paper and return it tomorrow. I have also returned the Stellar booklet (The Farm Concert). Kindly ensure all corrections have been done and sign the front page of the booklet. You can also take a look at the content being covered in the first unit and revise with him. I will collect the booklet tomorrow.

I have given them SBA homework. They have to cut and paste Mrs Wishy-Washy into the SBA book. We have also done the writing in the book. Please submit the book on Wednesday.

I will like to request the pupils to bring along two highlighters (yellow and green) to do annotation in his work. Please do not give dark coloured highlighters as the ink tends to seep through and stain the other pages.

Please practice logging into MCOnline using the BC number and password. A letter for this was given out last Thursday. I would greatly appreciate if you could write his BC number and password into his diary. I have stapled the login card on the first page of the diary.

Thanks and have a beautiful week ahead!

Regards,
Mrs Priya Chopra

Updates 23rd January 2015

Hi Parents!

We have come to the end of Week 3 of Term 1. The boys have been adapting well to the new environment and peers. We have started our lessons proper and have been completed one unit of English (The Farm Concert) and one chapter of Maths (Numbers to 10).

We have also started on the second unit for English (Mrs Wishy-Washy). We did our reading of the book today in class. It was quite an interesting book. The boys enjoyed it. You can request him to narrate the story to you, to improve his oracy skills.

I will be starting on Chapter 2: Number Bonds next week. They have taken Test 1 yesterday. I will pass the paper to them on Monday to go through the paper and to clarify common misconceptions. Since this is the first test that they have ever done without guidance from me, I request you to be understanding if they have not done up to your expectation. They still need some time to be able to do well in their tests. I will certainly raise some misconceptions during the review of the paper.

There will also be a spelling test on Monday. I have gone through the words with them in class. I hope you can help him to memorise the spelling.

I sincerely appreciate the efforts that you have been taking for your son's smooth transition into primary school. Thanks for your understanding and support.

Thanks and regards,
Mrs Priya Chopra

Dear Parents,

I have given three newsletters to your son.

One is the Term 1 newsletter, with important dates pertaining to this term.

Second one is about insurance, for which payment will be collected at a later date, together with their class fund. Please wait for more information.

Third one is about Family Matters @ school workshop that will be conducted for parents. If you are interested, please sign on it and return via your son.

We have come to the second week of school. For English, the focus theme is farm animals and their sounds. We have done our STELLAR booklet on this theme. I will send the booklet back once we have finished the theme.

For Maths, we have done Counting to 10. Please revise the following with your son.
1) Counting from 1 to 10 (upwards)
2) Counting from 10 to 1 (downwards)
3) Write numbers 1 to 10 in words
4) Greater than and Fewer than (e.g. 5 is greater than 4)

I have covered these in class. I would greatly appreciate if you can revise with them at home. Thanks a lot.

Updates 5th January 2015

Hi 1 Stephen Parents and pupils,

The first day in school was filled with interesting activities, especially the P5 Buddy programme. The boys were comfortable with their buddies and they learnt how to buy food, go to the toilet, bookshop and to play safely at the playground. The buddy programme will run the whole of this week so they  still have some time to get used to the school premises.

A few things to note:

1) PAL stands for Programme for Active Learning. We will let you know shortly what are the programmes lined up for this year.

2) Pupils have to come to school in PE attire on Wednesdays and Fridays. There is no need for them to change from the uniform to their PE attire in class. Please be reminded that they have to be presentable when they are wearing the school PE attire (tuck in shirt).

3) Pupils have been given a thermometer today. Please kindly label the thermometer (on the thermometer and the cover outside). Please give them a packet of wet tissue and dry tissue. This will help them during temperature taking exercises. Please also get them used to taking temperature using the thermometer. The thermometer should be in their bags at all times for temperature taking exercises.

4) I will be checking the first page of the diary tomorrow. Please ensure all details are indicated inside.

5) Please also be reminded that your child has to wear the nametag at all times. If he has lost it, he has to purchase a new one from the school bookshop.

6) There is a new timetable for the class. Please take note of the changes.

Thanks and regards,
Mrs Priya Chopra
